Slab based snow melting systems use snow melting mats or cables to help keep walkways and driveways safe and free of snow and ice during cold weather. Installed into the slab these snow melting mats are usually controlled by an automated sensor that monitors pavement conditions and activates the in-slab heating elements as needed. Electric snow melting systems are the more cost effective to install than hydronic ones, with slightly higher operating costs.
